OZ Naturals retinol serum {product review}

Ladies, have you started using a retinol product yet?  I was late to get started with it, but I’m definitely on board now.

Retinol is known to have many skin benefits.  WebMD says “retinoids minimize the appearance of wrinkles, bolster skin’s thickness and elasticity, slow the breakdown of collagen (which helps keep skin firm), and lighten brown spots caused by sun exposure.”

According to Yahoo! Beauty and Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, board-certified dermatologist and co-director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington, D.C., it’s best to start applying a retinol product during your mid-20s.  However, it can also provide anti-aging benefits if you start using it later.

I didn’t start using retinol as early as I should have, but I am enjoying the benefits of it now.  It took just a few applications before I noticed positive changes to my skin.

Testing a new retinol product

Over the last few months, I have documented my blossoming love affair with OZ Naturals products.

It started when I had the opportunity to try the OZ Naturals vitamin C serum.  This stuff seriously changed my life by calming my rosacea.  Then I had the chance to try their hyaluronic acid serum, which has dramatically improved the hydration and texture of my skin.

Most recently I received a complimentary sample of the OZ Naturals clinical strength 2.5% retinol serum via BrandBacker for review.

I had high expectations for this retinol serum since it is part of the OZ Naturals line of products.  The company is a leader in natural skincare, with products that are cruelty-free, paraben free, sulfate free, mineral oil free, lanolin free and gluten free.

This product is a clinical-strength 2.5% retinol serum – the highest concentration of retinol available without a prescription.  It also includes astaxanthin, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E.  The formula is designed to improve skin by minimizing hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles while improving texture and tone.

OZ Naturals retinol serum product review

Before even trying it, I felt good about using the OZ Naturals retinol serum since it is 99.9% natural, 72% organic, and made in the USA.

The OZ Naturals retinol serum comes in an amber bottle with a pump since vitamin A derivatives such as retinol should not be exposed to sun and air.  The pump makes this product convenient to apply.

The serum applies smoothly to my skin and absorbs quickly.  Just a little serum is needed to cover my face well.  I follow with a moisturizer, as the box recommends.

Although the box says that this product can be applied under makeup, I use it only at night.  WebMD warns that retinol products are best when used at night since they encourage skin cell turnover and this delicate new skin shouldn’t be exposed to the sun.

The packaging for this OZ Naturals retinol serum notes that a sunscreen should be applied daily while using the product.

This retinol product has been very gentle on my skin, and has not produced any type of irritation.  I have not experienced any flare-ups with my rosacea while using it.

Like other retinols I’ve tried, this product helps reduce fine lines that come along with age.  It keeps my skin looking and feeling smooth and healthy.  I’m very happy with the results.  I would recommend the OZ Naturals retinol serum to anyone who wants a quality retinol product!

 Thank you to OZ Naturals and BrandBacker for providing a free sample
